Born in the USA…
Marjorie Collins was born in Chicago USA. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Design from the University of Michigan and later studied part time at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Since moving to England in 1975, she has lived and worked in Oxford.
Exhibiting artist
She has exhibited widely both in the USA, where she was represented by the Joy Horwich Gallery in Chicago from 1985–1996, and in England: in London her paintings were featured in a solo show at the Barbican Centre. As well as exhibiting at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Hunting Prizes, Sunday Times Watercolour Competition, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, and the Royal Watercolour Society, she has participated in a number of group shows such as the Four Person Show at the Llewellyn Alexander Gallery and in many other galleries around the UK. She is also a frequent participant in the annual Oxfordshire Artweeks.
Societies
She has been a Member of the Society of Women Artists and of the Society of Botanical Artists for many years and exhibits regularly with them at the Mall Galleries, London. She is also a Member of the Oxford Art Society,
